Efren Penaflorida with Kariton Revolution kids rejoiced at the Opening of New Learning Center by URC

On August 14, 2014, Universal Robina Corporation rejoiced with Kariton Revolution kids during the opening of Dynamic Teen Company's learning center.

The ceremony was marked by a ribbon cutting with Efren Penaflorida (CEO of DTC), Marc Acosta (Consumer Marketing Services, URC) and Kesz Valdez (President, Championing Children's Community and 2012 International Peace Prize Winner).

Universal Robin Corporation sponsored the construction of the learning center at the second floor of DTC's Red Building in Cavite. DTC is headed by pushcart educator and 2009 CNN Hero, Efren Penaflorida, and his mentor Harnin Manalaysay.

Mr. Nilo Mapa, URC's Executive Vice-President and Managing Director, has high regards for Efren Penaflorida and his team. He admires DTC's passion to spark a positive change in the country. URC is honored and proud to support DTC's admirable endeavor to grant free education to out-of-school youth. URC has been actively supporting Kariton Program, one of the many academic programs under DTC's umbrella project.

The newly-constructed URC Learning Center has classrooms fully furnished with chairs, desks, whiteboards, books and shelves for 9th and 10th graders. There is also an office where volunteer educators can prepare lessons, as well as laboratory for advance lessons in science. These learning facilities are part of URC's commitment to provide support to DTC and its undertakings.

It was a great privilege to personally meet Efren Penaflorida, the 2009 CNN Hero during the Opening of URC Learning Center at Dynamic Teen Company's Red Building in Cavite.

Thailand and Philippines Strengthens Bilateral Cooperation via Exhibitions

Last August 5, 2014, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) (TCEB) held a presscon to highlight their efforts in reinforcing their bilateral MICE collaboration and trade promotion between Thailand and the Philippines.

Their efforts are continuation of the official bilateral collaboration between TCEB and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) last year.

Throught TCEB “Thailand Moves Forward” exhibition road show, they are fostering camaraderie among agents and promote Thailand’s Connect Businesses Campaign among Filipino entrepreneurs. Barbie Forteza Celebrates Her 17th Birthday to Give Joy to the Sick Children of PCMC

Last August 7, the kind and generous Barbie Forteza with the support of GMA Artist Center and sponsors gave joy to the sick kids of the Philippine Children's Medical Center in Quezon City. On her 4th year of bringing joy, it has been like a tradition for her to give a birthday party at the medical hospital dedicated for children. She said that she will continue to do so while she is in showbiz and after even she is not in showbiz anymore.

The event was attended by the children patients of the hospital with their parents at the activity area.
The program includes games with prizes, magic show, food, raffle of 10 Unisilver watches, and giveaways distribution done by Barbie herself.

Barbie mentioned that she gets great joy in giving joy to these children.

1st International Paragliding Accuracy Championship hosted by Philippines

Paragliding pilots from 11 countries will be competing in the 1st International Paragliding Accuracy Championship (IPAC 2014). This will be held in Sitio Seguil, BgyTinoto, Maasim in Sarangani Province on August 22-24, 2014 by Air Sports Adventure Philippines (ASAP).

During a press a conference held at the SM City Gen San, ASAP President Buko Raymundo said, “There are a lot of paragliding competitions abroad, and with our local pilots doubling in number since we began promoting the sport in the country, we believe it is the perfect time that the Philippines staged its own.

This August, the Sarangani gale will be at its finest, giving competing pilots the best of its 300-day flying season, which will as well highlight the most majestic bay south of the Archipelago.

This event is accredited by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, the competition has been sanctioned a pre-world status, and opens doors to exciting possibilities for Philippine Air Sports.

“We would like to elevate the country’s position as one of Asia’s top air sports destinations while featuring the future of paragliding in the Philippines,” continued Raymundo, who was also dubbed as ‘The Chief of Paragliding in South East Asia’ for taking home the gold medal in accuracy paragliding at the 2011 South East Asian (SEA) Games, held in Jakarta Indonesia.

Outdoors enthusiasts, in recognizing the popularity of safety paragliding and tandem paragliding as leisure and recreational activities, see opportunities in promoting Philippine Culture, Tourism and Trade.

In cooperation with the City Government of General Santos and the Provincial Sarangani Office, opening day festivities are arranged for August 21, 2014 by the DOT-12. A line-up of spectacles and activities kicking off the phenomenal affair will be a motorcade with international paragliders and a meet-and-greet with the winners of Ms. Earth Philippines.

Outdoors accuracy and nature adventure sports can also be experienced at the site during the 4-day event. A trade fair will also exhibit the best offerings in food, gear, apparel, and Filipino-made products.

As preparations for this historic happening take off, ASAP continues to work with, and for the benefit of the SOCCSKSARGEN Paragliding Club, to gather support from different sectors meaning to promote Filipino excellence in sports.

Last August 4, I was invited to the blogcon of the movie Once A Princess that stars Enchong Dee, JC De Vera and Erich Gonzales. The 3 young talents were there to answer question for bloggers and share their experiences in the movie.

The movie, which was inspired by the Precious Hearts Romances national bestseller of the same title, is directed by the award winning director Laurice Guillen. The movie was produced by Skylight and Regal Films.

Once A Princess will be showing in Philippine cinemas nationwide on August 6, 2014.

The US biggest summer TV series hit of 2013, Under the Dome, based on the novel by Stephen King, is coming back with a new season. This September 3, the second season of Under The Dome will premiere in Philippine cable TV. The premiere episode entitled "Heads Will Roll" continues with the fate of Barbie in Big Jim's hand while the Dome presents a new threat when it became magnetize suck metals.

RTL CBS Entertainment will show the new season every Wednesdays, 9:55 p.m.

If you have not seen Season 1, catch their one hour special Under The Dome: Inside Chester's Mill. This will show you the highlights and synopsis of the first season of the series.

I had a chance to see the press screening of both Inside Chester's Mill special and the Season 2 premiere. Having not seen Season 1, the special gave not only the synopsis in an hour full of the exciting highlights that made it number one in the US.

I was invited by Vikings in the San Miguel by the Bay branch in the SM Mall of Asia to try out a sampler of their new Southeast Asian dishes to be added to their menu during the weekends of August 2014.

PB Net members for a photo op at the reception lounge

Last May, our Philippine Bloggers Network (PBNet), needed to hold our first General Membership Meeting. We were looking for a venue with a modern conference room to hold the meeting.

We found out about vOffice and their Meeting Rooms services. Upon inspecting the place, we decided to hold it at their One Global Place office (5th Avenue corner 25th Street) in Bonifacio Global City.

Upon entering the vOffice facility, we were greeted with a very modern setup with a beautiful reception lounge.

The meeting went through smoothly with the modern facilities. We used their projector which was already setup and ready for use.

Whiteboard markers where also provided free of charge and the glass whiteboard was huge with plenty of space to write on. It is also very ideally placed just next to the projection area.

There is also free WiFi for Internet access that the attendees used during the meeting.

During the meeting, free coffee, tea and water was also available for refreshments at the pantry.

Overall, the meeting went successfully and our first set of the board members and officers of PBNet were elected. Thanks to the modern facilities of vOffice, our meeting did not only go very smoothly but was also a pleasant one with the classy modern ambiance of their prestigious location in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
